The genetic East Eurasian heritage in ethnic Turks in Turkey is generally estimated at around 10% on average. This represents one-fourth of the East Eurasian proportion found in an average medieval Oghuz Turk (40% EE).
However, this proportion distinctly varies regionally. For instance, while this rate hovers around 15% in the Mediterranean coastal provinces, the results show that it drops to around 8% further inland.
As another example, looking at the Eastern Black Sea region, while northern Giresun province again hovers around 15%, this rate distinctly drops below 1% in Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin, revealing a very clear boundary line. This line begins in Gümüşhane/Kürtün and descends to Trabzon/Şalpazarı and Beşikdüzü.
Similarly, Giresun is divided into two, with the north possessing 15% and the south 7% EE. Here, the distinction between Giresun and Şebinkarahisar manifests itself once again.
