An often-overlooked dimension. A substantial portion of the Circassians and Tatars in Turkey are Rumelian immigrants. Tatars, starting in 1783, and Nogais and Circassians, after 1863, migrated to Ottoman Rumelia. In 1877–78, they lost their homes for a second time.
